It’s not about you, really

Its _not _about_ you_really

When someone cuts you off in traffic, do you take it personally? Or if your manager says something rude,do you take it to heart? Fortunately, it’s not about you, really.

Actually, there’s no need for you to feel offended at all. Most of the time, when when we are harsh with someone,or vise versa, it’s because of something else that happened earlier in the day, or a stressful situation which is currently going on. It usually has nothing to do with what just happened.

It’s better for our health if we brush these things off. Even if someone says or does something to purposely hurt you, let it go. What someone else thinks of you has nothing to do with you, and frankly, you should make it absolutely none of your business.

Ultimately, your attitude is what will determine how easy or difficult it will be for you to disregard the negative. There are two different ways of viewing a situation. For example, let’s create a hypothetical situation in which you ask a friend to lunch. When they tell you they aren’t available, you can either think to yourself, “okay, they must have a full schedule this week”, or you can begin making negative assumptions. “It’s probably because they don’t really like me”, is an example of deciding to take the negative route.

Unfortunately, either way, whether it’s a negative thought process or positive, it’s usually a habit. Typically, many of us repeat the same kinds of thoughts. If you habitually allow your thoughts to take a negative course, you may want to consider replacing those thoughts and ideas with a more positive outlook.

Being negative leads to stress and depression. Stress has been linked to several physical health problems, including heart disease, asthma, diabetes, accelerated aging, and premature death. It’s worth the effort it takes to think positively. In fact, it would probably take the
same amount of energy to have a great attitude, as it would a negative one.

Being pessimistic and holding grudges doesn’t help you, or anyone around you for that matter.Letting go of past hurts shows that you know there is no longer any energy in the past. All energy happens now. If you wish to, you can travel the road to, nowhere forever, but it’s not recommended.
